Better Green Living Support With King’s College London Community Support Day

Across London, one in seven people currently experience homelessness[1]. The total number of those sleeping rough in the capital has increased by 12% since last year, reaching a total of 187,000. To help raise awareness for homelessness prevention, refurbishment specialists Better Green Living recently provided donations and volunteering services at King’s College London’s Community Support Day on Friday 28th March 2025.

King’s Community Support Day has been successfully running for the past 3 years. During this year’s event, King’s College London welcomed 65 people to King’s Sport & Wellness Centre for a place to chat, have a hot drink, receive a haircut, a three-course meal, change of clothes and shower facilities.

Better Green Living provided the shower packs, shower facilities managed by the ShowerBox team, and the hairdressers.
The refurbishment company has previously supported New Youth Horizon Centre, an organisation dedicated to ending homelessness in London with sporting fundraisers and basketball kit collaborations. Working with young people to find them a safe place to call home, they help nurture their skills and interests through sports and artistic activities.

Charles Gallagher, Director of King’s Community Business Services, said: “Collaborating with Better Green and ShowerBox was a truly rewarding experience. Together, we created a day dedicated to supporting our London community by providing hot meals, warm drinks, and essential facilities for individuals to refresh and recharge with a hot shower and a haircut. The event was greatly appreciated, and it was heartwarming to see the positive impact it had on so many people.”

Tom Dodson, Chief Operations Officer at Better Green Living, said: “The number of people experiencing homelessness in London is truly shocking, it is a crisis that demands immediate action. At Better Green Living we are passionate about raising awareness and keeping people off the streets, so being part of this event as it provided free meals, showers and haircuts for those in need, was really rewarding.

“The day was a reminder of just how important it is to offer a helping hand and support the local London community. It was fantastic to see such a positive impact the event had on those who attended, and we feel immensely proud to be part of an important day as we combat the ongoing issue of homelessness.”

Better Green Group is a creative design and build production company, with three divisions, the newest of which is Better Green Living, a sustainably led construction company dedicated to bespoke refurbishment projects within the education and commercial sectors.
