King’s College University, London

Protecting the legacy of a revered institution

Stamford Street Campus, exceptional residential study environments and special projects.

Scope of works…

Better Green Living has been the principal renovation and special works provider to Kings University London (KCL) since 2020. Our main contract at KCL has been the design and renovation of the Stamford Street Campus student halls of residence.

Our brief was to create a boilerplate, unique, student-led ‘designer home from home study environment’. We considered, if students were to design their space, what could we take from their inspirations and blend them with architectural design, practicality of use/maintenance and of course durability and cost effectiveness. The overarching message was to proudly showcase KCL standards, innovation, and student consideration that you would come to expect from any KCL campus.

The SOW for each phase includes the removal of all existing décor, flooring, furniture, bathrooms, Kitchens, and electrical components. The flats are then completely re-furbished, including re-wiring, plumbing, complete custom furniture and bedroom design, all flooring and decoration to a premium industry standard. Alongside these renovation works a number of new, self-contained, studio flats were also designed and installed during the different phases.

  • 233 student bedrooms, with our own bespoke furniture design, for both aesthetic and high usage

  • 40+ communal design-led kitchens promote integrated student living
